Jill’s Poetry
In Alaska
Warm and bundled inside my cozy cabin,
I watch my huskies from the window.
Beautiful white animals,
they playfully scuffle
in the cold, deep snow.
Enjoying the frigid air
and each other.
When it’s time to work,
they love to pull their red sled.
Happily barking and running fast,
yet listening for my shouted commands.
Up and down the mountain we sail,
snow crunching under the sled.
Cold wind blowing against my skin.
I feel cozy in Alaska but also
I feel a little lonely.
So far from my family.
