Halloween
October,
carved pumpkins,
All Hallow’s Eve,
eating too much candy.
Never meant for worshipping
the devil.
Time to scare evil spirits away,
prepare the way for the
saints to gather.
The beginning of junk food season,
but no party at church this year.
Watching lots of scary movies
while munching Halloween sweets.
Burn it off later.
Winter coat.
Cold.
Fall
Brightly colored trees,
pumpkin spice,
cinnamon sticks.
Harvest festivals,
Halloween,
apples coated in nuts and
thick caramel.
I’d love fall more
if I didn’t know what’s coming.
